At least 10 persons have been arrested in a joint police cum military operation in the late hours of Thursday February 23 in the Chereponi District of the North East Region.
The suspects are in the custody of Chereponi district police station.
The arrest follows a gun battle that ensued between two feuding factions at Wenchiki in the Chereponi district.
The incident was said to have happened following an attempt by the Paramount Chief of Chereponi, to enskin a chief of Nyangbangi, a farming community near Chereponi, but the Chief of Wanchiki, Naa Abuba, on early Thursday morning enskinned a different person for the people of Nyangbengi community.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that about four persons including a 16 year old girl and a security personnel have died in a crossfire.
Meanwhile, persons who sustained gunshot wounds of various degrees are receiving treatment at the Chereponi District Hospital.
Many people have fled the town for fear of reprisals.
