Sixteen people have lost their lives following a deadly crash at Gomoa Okyereko in the Central Region on the Accra-Cape Coast road.
The accident, which occured on Tuesday dawn, involved a bus with registration number GT 5866-L and a fuel tanker with registration number WR 2063-10.
Reports indicate that several passengers numbering over 20 were also injured in the gory crash.
Eyewitness accounts further showed that it was a head-on collision between the petrol tanker travelling from Accra heading towards Takoradi and the bus which was traveling from Liberia to the Buduburam camp.
So far, the injured passengers are receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
The drivers of the bus and the tanker are equally alive and receiving treatment at the Winneba hospital.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Division Officer I, Abdul Wasiu Hudu they received a distress call at dawn and rushed to the scene.
DOI Hudu indicated that the cause of the accident was still being investigated.
