Host of Ideal Home on 3FM 92.7, Etornam Sey has been honoured at the 4th Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Eminence Awards 2019. The event which took place on Friday, 1 November 2019 at the MikAddo Conference Centre in Accra was on the theme: “The Young Communicator; The Future of Ghana’s Global mage”. She together with other 29 alumni of the Ghana institute of journalism who are below 60 years, were celebrated for their various contributions in their respective fields in the country. Speaking after receiving her award, she emphasised the need for journalists to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties. “Our basic role as journalists is to inform the general public and we cannot be seen to be doing the opposite and distorting information. We must be clear and concise and ensure that we are making an impact with our stories”. She has meanwhile congratulated the team that organised the awards expressing gratitude for the honour. “One of the issues identified by Maslows theory of needs is recognition. We all need to be recognised for our good deeds and that is what will spur us on for growth and I am happy that you thought of me. We will keep doing our best,” she added. The 30 Under 60 Award, an Honorary Award, is an initiative of Switch EBS GIJ (Formerly RADComm Campus) to honour and celebrate 30 outstanding GIJ alumni under the age of 60 doing extremely well and impacting lives through their works after university.
