When we read the stories of the great characters in the Bible, we are inspired and encouraged by their lives. The big names make a big impression on us.
What we often do not realise is that we are reading from hindsight what people have experienced in real time. Imagine Abraham trusting God for a child with Sarah and only realizing that at the age of 100. Imagine Noah preaching about a pending disaster which only comes to pass after 120 years.
These events were not that “inspiring” at the time they were being experienced in real time. They are only making sense to us today with the benefit of hindsight.
Such is your life in the Lord. Do not expect everything to fall in place and make a certain logical sense now. You may not even understand certain things you go through. But one thing is guaranteed: it will all make sense at the end. Just keep trusting.
“Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.” (Hebrews 6:12)
