The first time I ever heard the word “Tenacity” was when a Preacher used it to describe the incidence in Mark 2:1-5. Take your time to read the passage and return to my message.
Jesus was in Capernaum and so many people had gathered in the room he was in to listen to him such that even outside the room was packed with a great crowd.
Some men had brought a paralytic hoping to have Jesus heal him. And this was what they did:
“Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on.” (Mark 2:4)
This is a classic example of tenacity. It’s defined as the persistence of purpose; an unwillingness to give up.
This was Jesus’ response:
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5)
According to Jesus, their act of tenacity was an act of faith which merited divine favour. There are times when tenacity is equal to faith.
Dear friend, if you can be persistent in your purpose, your faith will attract God’s favour that will cause you to succeed.
