The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has donated over 2,000 boxes of medical supplies to the Jomoro Municipal Health Directorate on Monday, February 13.
The medicines are expected to be distributed to 33 health facilities in the Constituency.
She also took time to visit some health facilities in her constituency and interact with staff and patients.
Donating the medicines to the Directorate, Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey pointed out, “The health of my people has always been paramount to me”.
She noted that a lot more, particularly medical equipment, are en route to Jomoro for all the health facilities in the area.
“I want to solve most healthcare problems [because] it is one of my major concerns and priorities to solve in Jomoro.”
She said she was motivated to get these supplies to the Directorate after the Municipal Health Directorate had told her there was not enough supplies following a request she had made as part of her free health screening for constituents.
“I had to personally purchase and go to private health centers and beg them for it. But these are basic things.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the Directorate, the Jomoro Municipal Health Director, Gabriel Yengliereh, conceded that basic equipment and apparatus are lacking in the health facilities in the municipality.
He said the situation has gotten so worse to the extent that some health personnel hire the materials from other colleagues in other municipalities for use.
He was, however, thankful to the MP for coming to their aid.
