The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western, Dorcas Afo Toffey, has committed to funding the grading of roads in about five communities which current stage poses health hazard and danger to residents.
The towns benefitting from the MP’s project are: Tweako 1, Tweako 2, Bentilbo, Kwaw-Grumah and Navrongo in the Jomoro District.
The roads totaling about 17 kilometre link to several towns but the deplorable nature has compelled most activities to ground to a halt.
The situation has been a source of worry to many, especially pregnant women and the sick.
“Due to the nature of the road, pupils had to trek on foot to and from school; farm produce are stuck in the bushes since okada, pragia (tri-cycle) and vehicles that are supposed to convey people refused to play on the road,” a resident told journalists during a tour to the communities by the Member of Parliament.
According to the MP, she toured the areas to ascertain the extent of damage to the roads.
The residents were upbeat as they praised the legislator for her thoughtfulness.
They were hopeful that when the road network is fixed it will allow okaka and vehicles to ply the route to improve the living condition there.
