Fire has razed a building said to be a warehouse with COVID-19 supplies at KardoIf Junction at Tesano, Accra.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 1 pm on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Even though no one was harmed, all contents in the building believed to be COVID-19 medical supplies were reportedly destroyed in the fire.
However, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service(GNFS) arrived at the scene and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other structures in the vicinity.
Although the cause of the fire is unknown, eyewitnesses said the fire started after two trees fell on an electrical power line close to the building.
“I do not know the actual cause of the fire. We immediately called on the Fire Service. We had to wait for a while before they came. When they arrived, some of us complained about the delay, and one of them asked us if we were the ones to teach them their job.
“But all in all, it is great the fire has finally been put out, and no one was harmed,” one of the eyewitnesses said.
Meanwhile, ADO2 Alex King Nartey with the Public Relations Department of the GNFS disclosed that they delayed arriving at the scene because they initially had difficulty locating the building.
He, however, said they were able to get to the scene to contain the fire, adding that they will launch an investigation into the incident.
