The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has clarified that it has not made any decisions regarding a potential increase in transport fares.
This announcement is to quell recent rumors and speculation suggesting that the union would be increasing transport fares.
According to the union, despite the recent surge in fuel prices, it has decided to keep transport fares unchanged whilst it continues to engage all relevant stakeholders to determine the appropriate fares that will not be detrimental to the public.
“Even though fuel prices have recently seen upward adjustments, transport fares remain same until such a decision is reached and same communicated to the public”, the union noted in a statement.

RE-TRANSPORT FARES INCREASE
The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU, wishes to inform the general public that it has not taken any decision to increase transport fares as being speculated about. This release was occasioned by false information going round that the union intends to soon increase transport fares in the face of upsurge in the determining factors.
The national executive of the union say even though fuel prices have recently seen some upward adjustments, transport fares remain same until such a decision is reached and same communicated to the public. It is in view of this entreats the public to disregard such information being churned out.
The union to this end seeks the opportunity to thank all for their support towards the success of its just ended congress, and look forward to an enhanced cooporation with the public for a smooth transport sector.
