Renowned investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas visited the Chancellor, North-Eastern University, Gombe following his keynote address at the International Conference on Trends in Investigative Journalism in Northern Nigeria, organized by North-Eastern University, Gombe, in partnership with WikkiTimes and Ghana’s Tiger Eye Foundation.

The conference brought together leading voices in journalism to discuss the evolving role of investigative reporting in fostering accountability and development.

During his visit, Anas was warmly hosted by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III CFR, who is also the Chancellor of North-Eastern University, Gombe at his palace. The Emir proudly highlighted the university’s achievements, describing it as a hub of academic excellence and community development. He praised the institution for offering functional courses that equip students with practical skills, and its contributions to advancing education.

“North-Eastern University, Gombe is a source of pride to Gombe and a catalyst for growth and innovation,” the Emir remarked.

Following the discussion, the Emir treated Anas to a tour of the royal stables, showcasing Gombe’s rich cultural heritage through its magnificent horses. Anas commended the Emir’s visionary leadership and the university’s impact, calling the visit both enlightening and inspiring.

The North-Eastern University, Gombe named its newly built, ultramodern multimedia studio after Anas during a one-day International Conference on Trends in Investigative Journalism in Northern Nigeria, jointly organized by WikkiTimes, NEU, and the Tiger Eye Foundation Ghana.

Anas thanked the Emir for honoring him and promised to help in the upliftment of journalism in Gombe.
