[L-R] Nana Akufo-Addo and Speaker of Parliament Prof Mike Ocquaye[/caption]The Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has asked Ghanaians to give President Akufo-Addo another four-year term in office. This, he premised on the fact that the Akufo-Addo-led administration has had a “good term” after enumerating a number of achievements chalked by the government. Mr. Ofori-Atta said this when he presented the 2020 budget and financial statement of government termed “Nkosuo and Nkabom Budget” literally translated as ‘progress and unity budget’ on Wednesday in Parliament. “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has worked hard over the last three years to deliver a substantial number of remarkable achievements which we are going to consolidate going forward,” he said. The gains to be consolidated, he said, would centre on growth, jobs and prosperity for all our people. Finance Minister mentioned 96 achievements of the Akufo-Addo government within the past 32 months. Thanking God and the people of Ghana for these achievements, he reiterated that President Akufo-Addo has laid a good foundation which requires that “his hands complete it”. Though commentaries from the governing New Patriotic Party suggest that President Akufo-Addo would be maintained by the party going into the 2020 presidential election, he himself has not publicly declare his intention to contest. “As we push on, in the knowledge that Ghanaians will know that we mean well, we do well and that, by the Grace of the Almighty, we shall all proclaim with one loud voice in melodic unison that: ‘One good term of Akufo-Addo, will deserve another.’ ‘One good term will deserve another.’ ‘One good term will deserve another’,” Ken Ofori-Atta prayed. He however appealed to Ghanaians to “go forward together” and “break disunity and poverty with a rod of iron. Let us go forth with a Spirit of power, love and self-discipline”.
