The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), Rev Dr. Cyril Fayose, says the arrest of a foreigner with a gun in a church at Hamile, Upper West Region, should be a wake-up call to the entire nation to be on alert.
The General Secretary said the security services should know that the terror attacks on churches and public are catching up with us in the country.
Some Christians are living in fear after a 50-year-old Burkinabe, Bilgo Tabila Desire was arrested during church service carrying a pistol.
Wading into the development on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa on Tuesday hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa, Rev Dr. Fayose said “it is a real wake up call for all of us because the security threat is moving down southwards”.
“It happened to Burkina Faso and we know some of them have been living in Ghana so we need to beef up security”, the man of God explained.
He added “the best security is for all the members to be on the lookout for things that are strange in our midst…The moment they find one, they should sound the alarm.”
The General Secretary emphasised that “security is a collective effort so all of us must look out for these security tips”.
“We are in touch with the National Security on the issue and one of the things we have done is to organize training for our members”.
