Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” (1 Corinthians 13:6)
The feature of love we are going to look at today is the direct contrast of the previous one, hence their separation with the conjunction ‘but’. In order words, the existence of one completely shuts off the other. Therefore, love rejoicing with the truth prevents it from delighting in evil.
What the word of God has to say concerning any given situation is the TRUTH. Since true love seeks to honor God more than it tries to impress men, it upholds God’s precepts above human ideologies.
Furthermore, Love can never thrive upon the foundation of lies. Genuine love and falsehood can never coexist. Therefore, employing all sorts of deceptive means to express or sustain love will simply backfire.
Love has nothing to hide, and therefore rejoices with the truth in all circumstances. Complete honesty and transparency is the hallmark of genuine love. In our increasing dark world today, may God help us to cultivate the kind of love that rejoices with the truth.
