The Church of Pentecost has issued a circular to its membership worldwide, announcing that a popular TikToker and Youtuber, Rebecca Oforiwaa, popularly known as Abena Becky is no longer a member of the Church.
The global Pentecostal denomination which originated from Ghana with presence in 151 countries, is revered for holding steadfast to high Christian values, and its uncompromising position on sin.
Abena Becky is said to have gained notoriety in using social media to allegedly slander the church courting disaffection for the Christian group.
The circular signed by the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and dated October 19, 2023, identified her as a member of the Church in the United Kingdom (UK).
“[Abena Becky] has been sharing videos vilifying the leadership and the entire Church of Pentecost”, the Chairman underscored.
According to the Chairman’s statement, several meetings with her by her Presiding Elder, District Pastor, Area Executive Committee, the body of Apostles and the National Executive Committee in the UK to help her express her grievances, if any, for redress have all proven futile.
Apostle Nyamekye said Abena Becky was suspended on May 8, 2022, due to her failure to comply with the leadership of the Church in the UK.
“In addition to her refusal to comply with her suspension, she has, over the period, continued to make unfounded accusations and insulting remarks about the Church and its leaders, showing no signs of remorse or repentance.
“With the foregoing, the Executive Council of the Church has excommunicated Sister Rebecca Oforiwaa (a.k.a. Abena Becky) from the fellowship of The Church of Pentecost.
“Therefore, we are by this letter informing the church public that, henceforth, Sister Rebecca Oforiwaa is no longer a member of The Church of Pentecost.”
