The General Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana in the Western Region, Mr. Anokye Abebreseh has handed over the site for construction works to begin on its Agona Nkwanta District office. He was assisted by the Mr. Edmond Botwie (Manager, Construction – ECG) and Alhaji Ibrahim Yakubu, Regional Engineer -Western Region, at a short ceremony which took place last Thursday, in Agona Nkwanta. The existing structure, which will be modified into a two-storey office and customer service building to meet the growing needs of ECG’s customers in the District and surrounding communities, will be constructed by Answad Investments Company Limited, a Ghanaian owned Construction firm. Mr. Abebreseh expressed confidence in the contractor’s ability to do a wonderful work. “I have seen what you have done for us (ECG) in recent times, and we know you are going to do a great job here”. Mr. Kwame Wadie, Chairman of Answad Investments, reassured the team from the Electricity Company of Ghana of a final work that will meet the expectations of every stakeholder involved. “We have a proven track record and we will live up to it once more”, he said. Alhaji Ibrahim Yakubu, Western Regional Engineer of ECG also asked the Contractor to take into consideration the presence of customers on the premises during the period, since the District office will still be operating alongside the construction works. “I urge you to encourage your workers to be of good behaviour and be polite to customers who visit the premises whilst you go about your work on site”. The ECG team also inspected ongoing works at its new Sekondi District office complex which is near completion. “We are hopeful that this customer friendly edifice will be completed and handed over to us by the end of this year. We are committed to improve on our services delivery and make them easily accessible to our customers in the Sekondi District. We will keep doing all we can to bring excellence to the doorsteps of our customers”. The Sekondi office complex, according to Messrs Mahu-Akyi, contractors of the project, will be completed and handed over to ECG by the end of 2018, if all things go as planned. The ECG team was also made up of personnel from the beneficiary districts and the Projects Directorate of ECG. PROFILE OF THE AGONA NKWANTA DISTRICT The Agona Nkwanta District which started operations in July this year, was carved out of the Takoradi District of the Electricity Company of Ghana, to meet the increasing power supply needs of some of its key industrial customers as well as domestic customers in the Agona Nkwanta and Mpohor Wassa area.
