Togbe Afede XIV[/caption] The Asogli State Council in the Volta region is demanding an unqualified apology from the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Blay for disrespecting the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV. The Council is also demanding same from the New Patriotic Party. Freddie Blay is alleged to have insulted Togbe Afede who is the President of the National House of Chiefs, suggesting the latter is ignorant and questioning if he deals in “palm wine”. This was after the chief asked that Mr. Blay is investigated for buying 275 buses for the NPP at the cost of $11.4 million. Secretary to the Asogli State Council, Stephen Tetteh, in a statement issued on Thursday said Togbe Afede’s comment was aimed at addressing the issue of the perception of corruption and to repose trust in leaders in the country. He remarked: “A statement such as this and from the President of the National House of Chiefs and an astute businessman does not warrant the kind of response from the National Chairman of the ruling party, a former 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a lawyer.” [caption id="attachment_19898" align="aligncenter" width="563"] Freddy Blay is the Chairman of the NPP[/caption] He maintained, “We take strong exceptions to the statements, names and comments in this reply as they are insulting and disrespectful”. Mr. Tetteh also expressed disappointment in the NPP for failing to rein in Mr. Blay when he showed disrespect to the revered chief. “The Asogli State Council demand an unqualified apology from the NPP and its Chairman for this their misconduct and disrespect shown to Togbe with immediate effect. Since the NPP remained silent, we can only conclude that this might be part of their boardroom decisions. Failure to heed this clarion call and the next line of action would be announced ASAP. ENOUGH is ENOUGH”. Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
