The Circuit Court in Tamale presided over by William Appiah Twumasi has sentenced Sulemana Danaa, age 25, to ten years imprisonment for defiling a two year old girl at Kumbungu in the Northern Region.
He was convicted after pleading guilty to the defilement charge put against him.
Police prosecutor, Chief Inspector Victor Kwafo told the court that on Monday June 1, the victim was playing with her colleagues at the Suniya Primary School compound in Kumbungu where the accused, a driver’s mate went and lured her to into one of the classrooms.
He said, the accused then defiled the girl and gave her two Ghana cedis note.
The police prosecutor added, the accused ran out of luck when two residents – a boy and a girl – who were passing by saw them in the classroom and decided to enter. Lo and behold they caught him in the act.
The two then dragged the man to the police station which is some few meters from the scene.
Medical examinations conducted on the girl showed evidence of an attempt to forcefully enter her.
The accuse was processed for court leading to his conviction.
