Over 4,000 Pastors of The Church of Pentecost and their wives have been converging at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana for the 2023 Global Ministers and Wives’ Conference of the church.
The conference which began on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 is expected to end on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
This has been an annual gathering of the church’s ministers and wives across the globe to seek the face of God, be imparted to impact the world with the gospel.
This year’s conference is under the theme, “Repositioning the Local Church for Maximum Impact in the Nations” – Colossians 2:6-7; 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20.
What most people don’t know is that the Church has over the years made conscious effort to have its Pastors enlisted in Ghana’s security services.
Currently, The Church of Pentecost has Pastors serving in the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Prisons Service.
As pastors and wives gathered at the PCC, the soldiers too were there with their wives.
Dressed in the military uniform, the men of God became the centre of attraction following their showmanship during the praises and worship segment of the conference on the opening day.
These soldiers took possession of the auditorium to praise God with their strength.
They were led by an Apostle of the Church who is also a senior military officer in the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel.
Apostle Lt. Col. Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode is the Chaplain for the Ghana Armed Forces (Director, Airforce).
As they dance energetically in their praise to God, the soldiers opened up a circle with their palms against the floor and their legs spread outside, they began to do push-up or what we commonly called press-up.
Pictures of their press up have however generated a topical discussion on some of the Church’s WhatsApp platforms at a time The Church of Pentecost seek to bridge the generation gap.
One shared his not-too-pleasant encounter: in his over-joyous moment, he led some youth to do the same press-up during praises – but was rebuked by their Pastor.
