The Forestry Commission has presented 20 infrared Thermometers and an amount of 200,000 cedis to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as its contribution to the fight against coronavirus.
The presentation was done on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, John Allotey, supported by the Executive Director of Forestry Services Division, Oppong Sasu and Corporate Affairs and Media Relations Manager, Joyce Ofori Kwafo.
The presentation, according to the officials, follows an appeal by the management of the Hospital to the Forestry Commission to support the hospital’s endowment fund.
The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the Ashanti Region is one of the cases management centres for the coronavirus in the country .
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, John Allotey, said the commission’s gesture is to enable the hospital do its best in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
“The donation, particularly the infrared thermometers are items that you do not find easily around the area so we believed its right to get them the thermometers. It will help as they would be able to test the temperatures of patients who are coming into the facility,” Mr. Allotey stressed.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, thanked the Forestry Commission for their kind gesture.
He promised that management of the hospital will make judicious use of the money.
“Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital most sincerely thank the Forestry Commission for its benevolence and extending a helping hand to us. I appeal to other corporate institutions to come to our aid.’’
He said the hospital has scaled up the production of hand sanitizers in the face of the covid-19 pandemic.
“The hospital is also increasing procurement of personal protective equipment in all operational areas to curb the spread of the disease.”
