Four persons died Friday morning when a stored premix fuel in a house caught fire and exploded. One person has also been left in a critical condition after the incident at Kormantse in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central region. 3news.com’s Central regional correspondent, Kwame Kakraba, who spoke to an eyewitness Mr Kwasi Arhin, said residents were forced out of their homes to safety when they heard the sound of the explosion. The four who were in the house where the explosion occurred died on the spot, witnesses said. The timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service with support from residents prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses. The immediate cause of the explosion is not yet known, but some residents are pointing fingers at a porridge seller who was said to have set a fire to prepare her food close to where the premix fuel was kept. She was however not in the house when the incident happened. The deceased have been sent to the morgue at the Saltpond Government Hospital. The four people who died included the owner of the premix fuel whose name was given as Nana Kojo. Three others including a minor also died. Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
