The Chairman of the Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress in South Africa, Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie has given a damning verdict on the leadership of President Akufo-Addo with regards to how the affairs of the country have been managed.
In his observation, the president is leaving behind a history that generations yet unborn can never be proud of.
Benjamin Quashie was assessing the performance of the current administration on a wide-range of issues on Class TV.
“Generations to come will know that Ghana retrogressed under an administration of a man called Nana Akufo-Addo, supported by a super incompetent vice president, a vice president that is a walking illegality,” he remarked.
He also shot down claims by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that that he has “worked so hard and contributed significantly to the development of our country through landmark policies” that he has initiated and spearheaded.
According to the NDC Council of Elders Chairman in South Africa, the Vice President has rather “made mockery of the economy, the vice president has become a comedian to the Ghanaian people”.
He therefore questioned what the Vice President has done as the head of the economy management team, describing the latter as a “flip-floppy of a different nature”.
Meanwhile, Mr. Benjamin Quashie has thrown his weight behind the decision by the Minority in Parliament to picket at the premises of the Bank of Ghana if a 21-day ultimatum to the Central Bank’s Governor Dr. Ernest Addison and his two deputies to resign expires.
He blamed the governor for allowing himself to be subjected to undue influence by the government leading to an unprecedented ¢60.8 billion ($6 billion) loss last year.
He further pointed to how the Central Bank flouted its own Act, over the years, which bars it from advancing loans to government in excess of five percent of the government’s previous year’s revenue.
“It is clear that this governor has flouted every single governing rule he needs to adhere to,” Benjamin Quashie observed.
