Former President John Dramani Mahama has accused President Akufo-Addo of visiting Ghanaians with unbearable hardship as a result of his mismanagement of the economy.
Addressing the National Delegates Congress of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday, December 17, Mr. John Mahama said the actions of the government have impoverished Ghanaians.
He asserted, “six years of reckless mismanagement of the country has left our people broken and struggling to survive from one day to the next.”
The former president touched on the controversial Debt Exchange Programme announced by the Finance Minister on Monday, attributing the development again to the government’s reckless borrowing.
“The life savings of Ghanaians, pensions and banks are being threatened by a debt restructuring programme occasioned by the reckless borrowing of the Finance Minister,” he said.
He therefore told the over 9200 delegates at the Accra Sports Stadium that “Ghanaians are looking up to us to be the next government because we are the better alternative to govern this country”.
He added, “This NPP government has done the worst to erode the confidence of Ghanaians in our democracy and are willing to suffer by crossing the Mediterranean sea or being electrocuted at Kasoa.”
