The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame has ordered the police to investigate the assault on a student of Adisadel College and bring culprits to book.
He further gave the police service up to Friday, July 28 to arraign the suspects before court.
This is the latest revelation following the disturbing violence meted out to a student by a colleague on school grounds.
Many Ghanaians expressed shock and disgust when the video surfaced on social media on Tuesday, July 25, however, a communique by the Headmaster of the school through the PTA Chairman disclosed that the incident happened about a month ago on 30th June 2023.
A brief statement from the school administration said that the incident was kept hidden by both the culprit and the victim.
The statement announced that at all actors involved have been sanctioned as follows:
“The one who did the video as well as the house master have also been punished.
However, GES has called for further sanctions beyond the suspension.
“We applaud the school authorities for taking swift action to suspend the culprit pending further investigation,” parts of the release read.
While the GES applauds the swift disciplinary measures, it has directed the Regional Director of Education to collaborate closely with both the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency.
Management of the school have been summoned by the Education Minister for a meeting.
Meanwhile, some students of the school who witnessed the assault have also been invited by the Regional Education Directorate to answer questions.
