Chairman of the South African Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benjamin Quashie has thrown his weight behind former President John Mahama as the best person to lead the party into victory come election 2024.
According to him, the achievements of Mr. Mahama speaks volumes and none of the other contending candidates for flagbearership comes to par with his feat.
In his view, John Mahama is a great leader and a unifier who has the desires of the people at heart thus no one qualifies to be flagbearer other than him.
Speaking in an interview on Joy News, Mr. Quashie added that aside the ex-president’s feat when he was at the helm of affairs, he has always been in touch with the rank and file of the party especially the grassroots.
“John Mahama has always been a grassroots person…apart from President Mahama whom we have all called our presumptive leader, there’s absolutely no other candidate among the four that we can say comes to par when it comes to Mahama’s achievements.”
The unapologetic supporter of Mahama added that the NDC “wants to take Ghanaians from the economic doldrums that they find themselves in…we believe in one person that can do this easily for us and that is President Mahama.”
Mr. Benjamin Quashie explained that the regional executives picked nomination forms for John Mahama because of their believe in his track record, his leadership qualities, and his ability to unite people.
“President Mahama has unified any other branch of the party in terms of differences that arose at our party’s congress and the party’s conference. This quality leadership is what would unite and win us the 2024 elections” he emphasised.
