A leading contender in the governing NPP Special Electoral College on Saturday, August 26, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has expressed his utmost anger at activities surrounding the voting processes.
The presidential candidate has alleged that his unnamed agent has been forced out of a polling centre and gone into hiding.
A video in circulation shows a visibly angry Kennedy Agyapong making the allegation loudly on phone with someone at a venue yet to be identified.
He is threatening a showdown.
“I swear to God, President Akufo-Addo I will give you showdown, Vice President [Bawumia] I will give you showdown that you have chased my agent to go [and hide] in a room,” he said in the video amidst gesturing and attempts by his aide to calm him down.
“You will see what will happen, I swear to God I will challenge President Akufo-Addo anytime,” the Member of Parliament for Assin Central declared.
Some 958 delegates nationwide are expected to decide the fate of 10 NPP presidential aspirants by selecting five for the party’s presidential primary slated for November 4, 2023.
Voting nationwide commenced at 0900 hours and expected to close at 1300 hours.
The ten presidential aspirants, in the order in which they will appear on the ballot paper are: Mr Kennedy Agyapong, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Mr Joe Ghartey, Mr Kwadwo Poku, and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
The rest are: Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Francis Addai Nimoh, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Mr Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
