The remains of Kofi Annan leaving Geneva[/caption] A casket, draped in a United Nations (UN) flag, with the mortal remains of former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan is airborne after leaving Geneva, Switzerland on Monday. The body of the former UN boss is accompanied by his wife, children and some UN officials. The chartered aircraft with the remains is expected to touch down in Accra, Ghana at about 5:00pm. The body of the global icon will be received at a brief ceremony to be led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Kotoka International Airport. It will then be moved to the Accra International Conference Centre. On Tuesday, September 11, the public will be allowed to file past and pay their last respect to the former UN chief at the Accra International Conference Centre. Annan will be accorded a state burial and his body interred at the new Military Cemetery in Accra on September 13, 2018 after burial service at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Wednesday, September 12.
