The District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South, Christian Adu Poku was on Tuesday allegedly assaulted by some police officers believed to be with the Tafo Pankrono Police Command.
Information gathered by 3news.com suggested that the DCE was on his way with some of his officers and media personnel to donate some PPE to institutions in his District as the country battles the deadly covid-19.
He is said to have chanced on a Police Patrol team vehicle loaded with some individuals.
The DCE tried to enquire from the police why they had loaded a number of persons in the bucket in the era of social distancing and that led to verbal exchanges between the DCE and the police.
The DCE was allegedly punched on the mouth by the police.
Mr. Christian Adu Poku has confirmed the incident and says official complaint has been lodged with the police.
When 3news.com contacted Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, he said he has not been officially briefed about the incident.
