The campaign team of former President John Mahama has apologised to the teeming supporters of the former Ghanaian leader for his inability to file his nomination forms as planned.
Mr. Mahama is seeking to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2024 general elections as its presidential candidate.
He launched his re-election bid in the Volta Region on March 2 and was expected to file his nomination on Monday, March 20, 2023.
However, his campaign team is sorry that Monday would no longer be possible.
“Originally planned for Monday, the John Mahama Campaign says it is very sorry for the postponement, which is in response to a request from the party to reschedule because of the presentation of the party’s True State of the Nation Address on Monday,” a statement issued by Spokesperson Joybce Bawa Mogtari on Sunday, March 19, said.
The former president would now file his forms on Tuesday, March 21.
Meanwhile, the statement said the former president will continue the second phase of his campaign tour to the Ashanti Region.
He is expected to end the tour on Monday.
The National Democratic Congress is expected to hold the presidential primary on May 13, 2023.
