A New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament was Friday conveyed in an ambulance to Parliament to participate in the voting exercise on the three revenue bills.
The Member of Parliament for Nanton and Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tufeirua was on his way to Parliament when he got involved in an accident on March 31.
Interestingly, after his colleagues managed to get him to vote on the bills, the legislator was rushed to an unnamed hospital for medical attention.
Pictures of the wreckages are telling enough as to how serious the accident was. The Pick-Up vehicle the MP was using has been damaged beyond repairs.
Meanwhile, Parliament has since passed all the three revenue bills.
The bills are: the Income Tax Amendment Bill, Excise Duty Amendment Bill, and Growth and Sustainability Amendment Bill.
The government is seeking to generate approximately GH¢4 billion per year to supplement domestic revenue.
The passage of the three bills will go a long way to facilitate the 3 billion dollar facility Ghana is securing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
