The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has reviewed its medicines list as well as service tariffs under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The new tariffs take effect from February 1, 2023, the Authority announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, it said the framework medicines have been increased by 50% plus an additional 30% marginal increase by the NHIA.
For the non-framework medicines, they have been reviewed upwards by 20%.
Service tariffs have also been increased by 10% across board.
The new adjustments have become necessary due to the increase in products on the market, NHIA observed.
Meanwhile, the NHIA announced the addition of two more medicines to the existing list.
“Artemether Injection 80mg/ml and Levofloxacin Infusion 500mg/ml have been added to the NHIA Medicines List and will now be reimbursed by the Scheme.”
“All service providers and the general public” have therefore been advised “to take note of these adjustments which have been effected to correspond to the observed increase in prices of most Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s).”
