One person was confirmed dead, six others got injured, when portions of the Legon mall under construction collapsed Monday morning. 3news.com’s Peter Quao Adattor reports, the deceased, whose name was given only as Saed, reportedly fell from the sixth floor of the building. The Legon District Police Crime Officer, Superintendent Kingsley Aboagye, said he received a distress call on the collapse of the building which prompted the deployment of investigators to the scene. Police preliminary assessment revealed that the workers were supporting the columns of the building with beams to continue with the construction work. The police said a concrete mixer was brought in to provide concrete to the six floor where the work was being done. In the process, the beams which were erected right at the tip of the concrete floor, gave way leading to the accident, The deceased, reportedly fell from the top and was confirmed dead at the Legon Hospital. Six other workers who got injured were rushed to the same hospital for treatment. One of the injured, reported to be in critical condition was referred to the 37 military hospital. Another was referred to a private laboratory for a CT scan for head injury.
