A one-year-old baby girl has been burnt to death at Mataheko in Accra in a fire outbreak that engulfed two wooden structures near the Mars Business School, in Accra where she stayed with her parents.
The charred body has been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation.
Information available to Newstitbits.com suggests that the baby was asleep when the fire gutted the structures.
Other occupants in the affected structures escaped unhurt Tuesday evening.
The fire was brought under control by firefighters from the Regional Headquarters’ Sub-Station and Kwame Nkrumah Circle Fire Station who were dispatched to the scene.
“Tragically, a one-year-old baby girl was lost to the inferno”, an official of the Fire Service told journalists.
“The charred body was handed over to the Police who thereafter deposited the remains at the Korle-Bu morgue for preservation and further investigation”.
