President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has opened the Sakogu Senior High Technical Day School. The President also commissioned a 120 bed capacity dormitory for Nakpanduri Business Senior High School. The two educational projects all in the North-East Region will aid in providing space to the increasing enrollment in the schools. President Nana Akufo-Addo again cut sod for the construction of the Nalerigu-Nakpanduri-Bunkpurgu road and the Bunkpurgu township roads. The president was on a two-day tour to the newly created region. Addressing some teachers and students after the commissioning, the President said the Minister for Education raised 1.5 billion cedis to expand and improve infrastructure in schools, assuring that schools in the North-East will have its fair share. Prior to his visit to Nakpanduri and Bunkpurugu, the President paid a courtesy call on the King of Mamprugu, Nayiri Mahami Sheriga Bohagu at his palace in Nalerigu, the regional capital of the North-East region. At a durbar of chiefs, elders, and community folks at the forecourt of the Palace, President Addo Dankwa indicated that the North-East is a region after his heart and he will demonstrate that love through development. He mentioned that the power of equitable distribution of resources lies within him and assured the people he will use it creditably to ensure development is spread evenly. “I have said it when you came to Accra in February and I will say it again that the development of this region will not be situated in the capitals but will be spread out across the region.” Touching on peaceful cohesion, the President called on the people to live in harmony, seek peace for accelerated development. “I want to appeal to you to bring the incidence of violence and conflict to an end and embrace unity amongst yourselves for in unity lies strength” The President presented eight cars to the North-East Regional Coordinating Council. In a speech read on his behalf by the Bukpe Naaba, the King of Mamprugu Naayiri applauded the president for his commitment to the creation and development of the region.
