Custodians from four communities in the Eastern region: Adoagyiri, Owuraku, Ntoaso and Akwamu are holding a demonstration in protest of purported sale of their lands by former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. The protesters are presenting a petition to government through the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly to stop Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings from ceding their over 700 acre land to private a developer. The said land was acquired by government to grow pineapples to feed the Nsawam canary when it was established. According to the people, the land was acquired over 40 years ago, but nothing has been done on the land. They claimed no compensation was paid to them and are therefore demanding that the land is returned to them. They showed a document to TV3’s Bright Blewu which they claimed was presented to them by Mrs. Rawlings that the land has further been leased to her for 50 more years and was in turn giving it out to a private developer. But the people insisted she gave them back the land. More to follow Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
