The Ghana Education Service (GES) has rendered a “sincere apology” to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo after a viral video on social media captured students insulting the president.
“Management of GES wishes to extend our sincerest apology to H.E. the President and the general public on behalf of the students and school,” the GES said in a statement on Monday.
The statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of GES Public Relations Unit, said the students have been identified to be in their second year at Chiana Senior High School in the Kassena Nankana West District.
“Our attention has been drawn to a viral video circulating on social media involving some students misconducting themselves and using vulgar and unprintable words on the President of our land,” the statement said.
“Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) condemns this unfortunate act which is against every educational and moral principle in our society,” it added.
According to the statement, management of the school has begun investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the “unfortunate utterances and gestures” of the students.
It said parents of the students have also been invited to assist in the investigations.
