General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) Solomon Kotei, says he would not reject the offer, if he is appointed chief executive of Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
According to Solomon kotei, the workers unions will prefer someone who has risen through the ranks in the industry to be the next CEO of COCOBOD.
Government terminated the appointment of the chief executive officer of the COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni which took immediate effect by close of business on Friday.
Even though most of the industrial unions are happy with him being sacked, they say they are open for consultations from government over the next appointment.
However, the General Secretary of ICU told 3FM he is opened to the position but will need to consult with his Union, the ICU.
‘‘Well if that offer comes, I’m with an institution so I will need to consult with the leadership. We have heard a lot of names so we don’t want to pre-elect. For the two national unions we are open whoever the president appoints we will work with the person but we haven’t got that preview but should our expertise be sort, needed, we will give but we will like to have somebody who has risen through the ranks and file of the industry who can actually carry the industry to its next level.
“I am a product of the industry and I’m aware most of the time, the person is from the outside and unable to handle the broadness of the industry’’.
