The Obstetric and Gynaecology Laboratory of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has been closed down by management of the facility.
The Public Relations Officer Mohammed Misbao said the closure has become necessary as the facility observes social distancing as part of its precautionary measures to prevent a possible community spread of the novel Coronavirus.
“We are trying to cut the number of our staff in this period and the only way is to close that facility down temporarily”.
In addition, the Accident and Emergency Unit Laboratory of the hospital has also been closed down partially .
The AnE laboratory which used to operate seven days in a week including night services now operates only in the evening.
Mohammed Misbao revealed full services will resume when the Covid-19 is contained.
“The hospital will resume all these services once the Covid-19 period is over but for now this is how we will operate”.
However, Misbao noted that the hospital’s main laboratory is fully in operation.
