The Upper East Regional Co-ordinating Council has placed a temporary ban on the riding of motorbikes in the Binduri District.
Aside the motorbike ban, the curfew hours have been changed to 6:00pm to 6:00am.
This forms part of decisions taken by the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) at an emergency meeting held on January 22.
The ban, according to REGSEC comes after the killings in Bawku and its environs.
“Following renewed killings in Bawku and Binduri, the REGSEC decided to review the curfew hours in Bawku from 8:00pm-5:00am to 6:00pm to 6:00am. It also placed a temporary ban on the ridding of motorbikes in the Binduri district,” a press release dated January 29 and signed by Alhaji Abubakari Inusa, Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council said.
The DISEC of the Binduri District Assembly is therefore been directed to enforce the directive with effect from the 29th January, 2024.
