The Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Kingsley Ato Cudjoe was hooted at and nearly beaten by some angry youth of Ekumfi Eyisam in the Central region on Saturday. The deputy minister had attended the annual Akwanbo Festival organised by the community on the invitation of the chiefs there. However, the moment he mounted the podium to speak, some of the youth including those who used to engage in galamsey started to hoot at him, demanding when he was going to provide them with jobs and other things he promised them before he was voted for as the Member of Parliament for Ekumfi constituency. It took the timely intervention of the Ekumfi District Chief Executive, Bernard Paa Grant and some security officers to save the situation as the youth wielding lethal weapons pounced on him and threatened to beat the hell out of the minister over failed promises. The NPP Ekumfi constituency youth organiser Mustapha Anderson expressed shock at the incident in an interview with Onua News. He condemned the action and called the party executives to act immediately. “If our party NPP doesn’t take care, the Ekumfi constituency seat will be taken by the NDC in 2020 election.” By kwame Kakraba | Onua FM | 3news.com]]>
