After the release of 5Fives’s 2010 smash hit ‘Muje Baya’, renowned music producer Appietus was accused of stealing the beat from a South African song – ‘Amerido’ by DJ Cndo. It was the first time the renowned producer, who has several hit songs to his credit, received criticisms for his production. Reacting to the allegation after 10 years, the producer, speaking in an interview on Showbiz 927 on 3FM with MzGee, said he only sampled the beat contrary to what many speculated. According to him, it was music group 5Five who brought the beat to him and that was the first time he was sampling someone’s beat for a song. “I had never sampled for them to hear so they were like why would Appietus [do that] but it’s a normal thing. It’s not big news, not like the first engineer to sample,” Appietus said. “They thought that I went to steal…you can’t steal a song,” the producer stressed. Appietus, born Appiah Dankwah, also talked about why he no longer use his signature in songs these days. Watch the video below for more:
