The Ghana Police Service has set the record straight on a uniformed man who is seen in a video, that has gone viral, kicking a young man. “The person seen kicking the victim in the said video is not a Police Officer,” a statement issued by ASP Simon Tenku on behalf of the Director General of Police Public Affairs said on Friday. According to the police, the uniformed man is a civilian working with the Swedru Municipal Assembly as a metropolitan guard. In the video, the man that is yet to be identified was seen expertly slapping his victim with the foot in a kickboxing style. The docile looking victim was already kneeling when he was kicked to the ground from behind. It is not clear what the offence of the victim was but colleagues of the guard and others around were not moved to stop the dastardly act. Instead, he was rather urged on, though the kick was scary enough to attract a spontaneous scream of surprise from bystanders. The incident happened around 3:00 pm on Thursday, 21st March 2019 at Agona Swedru in the Central region. A police officer stationed near the place, whose attention was drawn to it, went to the rescue of the victim and filed a report at the Agony Swedru Police Station. “The Police Administration hereby emphasis that the person seen kicking the victim in the video is not a Police Officer. The matter is being investigated by the Swedru Divisional Police Command,” the police statement said. Watch the video below Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
