A police dispatch rider with the Transport Department at the Police Headquarters, Corporal Rauf Addrisu lost his life on Friday, March 3, after being involved in a ghastly accident.
Rauf Addrisu was leading a convoy from Accra to Kumasi when he met his untimely death after a head-on collision with a Grandbird VIP bus with registration number GW 9944-10.
A situational report sighted on the accident revealed that the driver of the bus, 44-year-old Samuel Boateng, on reaching a section of the road close to the Osino Police station on the Accra-Kumasi highway, failed to observe traffic ahead.
In the process, he crashed head-on with Corporal Rauf Addrisu who was riding Honda motorcycle No. GP 4710 and leading a convoy to Kumasi.
Corporal Rauf Addrisu died on the spot.
The remains of Corporal Rauf Addrisu have been deposited at the Enyirise Government Hospital whiles the driver has been detained to assist in the investigation.

“It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to one of our own, G/Cpl Rauf Iddrisu who tragically passed away in a fatal accident this afternoon,” part of the text accompanying the pictures read.
