The Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), Maame Tiwa Addo Danquah, has stressed the need for public support and collective action in the fight against corruption.
She called on Ghanaians to support her office and other anti-corruption agencies to root out the canker of corruption which has caused the nation millions of cedis.
She asserted that, political actors and public officeholders alone cannot succeed in the fight thus the need for public support and collective action.
Maame Tiwa Addo Danquah was speaking in response to Ghana’s 43rd position in the latest corruption perception index.
“I consistently emphasise that the fight against corruption should involve everyone, not just those in positions of authority. It must be a collective endeavour. Each person must ensure they play their role in combating corruption,” she emphasized.
She also encouraged Ghanaians to provide and/or relay relevant information to institutions mandated by law to fight corruption to enable officers work effectively.
She recommended that “when you see something, not only in the physical security but even in the area of corruption, you must say something because if you don’t say it, it will get bad and that is what we should be worried about.”
