The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital in the Central Region recorded a total of 37 births and 10 deaths between 24 and 29 December 2022.
Mr. Obed Osei Bonsu, Head of Biostatistics Department at the Hospital, noted that the babies delivered during the period included three set of twins.
Regrettably there was a record of infant mortality as one of the 34 mothers that gave birth lost her new born baby.
The Hospital Management explained to Newstitbits.com‘s Central Regional correspondent that doctors tried as much as possible to save the baby to no avail.
According to the Head of Biostatistics Department, the facility admitted a total of 131 patients during the period which included 60 emergency cases in which five of them came in as accident victims.
10 deaths from the emergency cases and those at the wards were recorded at the hospital.
“Management led by the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Eric Kofi Ngyedu would like to use this opportunity to console the family of deceased. We also assure the general public that pragmatic measures are being put in place to save lives at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital,” Mr. Osei Bonsu remarked.
