October 24, 2018
Reading Time: 2 mins read

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, says government is doing everything within its abilities through the Ghana Refugee Board and other stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the refugees’ problems in Ghana. According to the  Minister, the country is working relentlessly to explore the advantages refugees bring to their host nations for mutual benefit, acknowledging the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in providing vital assistance to the Ghana situation. The Minister made the comments when the UNHCR Representative in Ghana, Ms Esther Wairimu Kiragu called on her on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at her office in Accra. Ayorkor Botchwey recalled several measures to support displaced persons living in the country, citing the four camp schools that were captured under the National school feeding program in 2017 which also provided proficient teachers for all four educational facilities. The Minister congratulated the envoy on her appointment to the office of the UNHCR Representative in Ghana, assuring of Ghana’s continued support in its work. Madam Kiragu arrived in the country on Monday October 8, 2018 to assume office as UNHCR Representative in Ghana. The UNHCR Boss delivered a message of gratitude from the High Commissioner of Refugees Filippo Grandi, to the Foreign AffairsMinister for her acceptance of Ms Kiragu’s appointment, pledging the UN agency’s continued support for Ghana in its refugee management programs. Ms Esther Wairimu Kiragu lauded Ghana for the strides made in ensuring the protection of refugees. She was particularly impressed with the Ghana Refugee Board and its efforts to help the UN body to achieve its mandate of coordinating, protecting and providing humanitarian assistance to thousands of refugees around the globe. The two officials called for deepened cooperation between Ghana and the UNHCR to protect more refugees not only in Ghana but across the African continent. Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>

who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
