Snippets of information gathered by 3news.com from the Northern Region indicate that one person has been killed at Nanduni, a community in the Chereponi District, as renewed clash travels into day 3. The deceased has been identified as one Nana, a resident of Nanduni. The incident happened on Tuesday Morning, January 1, 2019. “He was shot. His brothers although saw him falling, they had to retreat because of the intense nature of the firing so the attackers drew closer to him and finished him up, they even amputated his left wrist,” a source narrated. The deceased has since been buried. Meanwhile, several distress calls from residents of Nanduni, Nabruk, Nabrumu, and Achuma communities suggest that houses have been torched. Almost every house in Nanduni, Nabruk and Nabrumu communities has been set ablaze by the attackers, sources claimed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. It is feared the attacks will hit Chereponi soon if government does not beef up security presence there. Residents have refuted claims by the police administration that enough security officers have been dispatched to the area. “Two teams of twelve military officers dispatched from Nakpachie and Yendi have been withdrawn since the morning of January 1, 2019 leaving us to our fate,” a worried caller told 3news.com. Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Chereponi, Abdul-Razak Tahidu although confirmed the renewed clash between community folks in Nanduni and Nabruk, he was not able to tell the level of destruction as he was yet to visit the scene.
