Vigilante groups are owned by wicked mafias within NDC, NPP – AWW Commission told

February 20, 2019
Reading Time: 3 mins read

Delali Kwasi Brempong[/caption] The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) by-election is predicting the end of everyone if vigilantism, fueled by “wicked mafias” within the political parties, are not clamped down. Delali Kwasi Brempong told the Emile Short Commission, investigating the bloody incident perpetuated by some masked-wearing blazing men during the by-election, that he suspects persons behind the violent activities are political militias acting as national security operatives. Asked what political leaders can do to stop the activities of these militias, commonly known as vigilantes,  he noted that the groups are not owned by the political parties, doubting if the NDC or the NPP, as an entity, will encourage such groups. He said on Wednesday, the groups such as the Hawks, Delta Force, Invisible Forces, are owned by “kingpins” within the parties with diabolic mindset. “I believe they are owned by some political mafias, who actually encourage hooliganism to cause confusion, and if it is really true, I want to appeal to your commission that the police and the military in this country need to sit up or we are all finished,” Delali Kwasi Brempong said with particular reference to what happened in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency. He added, “I am sure there are some notorious mafias, wicked mafias within them (political parties) that are making use of these people to cause political confusion.” The precinct of the parliamentary candidate’s house, near the La Bawaleshie Primary School polling station, was where some civilians were shot and assaulted by the masked uniformed men driven in a police SWAT vehicle on January 31. Some government officials and security personnel who have testified before the commission have given some contradictory accounts of the incident, but all concurred that the security personnel specifically went to the resident of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate based on intelligence that arms where being kept there. The operation, they claimed, were aborted after a bloody confrontation in the man’s house. Meanwhile, Delali Kwasi Brempong has denied claims arms were being stocked in his house. “I want it on record that I am a pharmacist by profession and I would have no business at all acquiring firearms because, there is no use for arms in the practice of pharmacy. “And I am also under oath to protect human lives because my job as a pharmacist is to find remedies for people who are unwell.” By Isaac Essel |3news.com | Ghana]]>
