Music industry is large enough for everybody – Dr. LayLow

February 21, 2019
Reading Time: 2 mins read

A  medical doctor cum musician, Dr. Laylow, one of the top 100 nominees in Mr Eazi’s Empawa Africa movement, has pointed out that there is enough space for everybody in the music industry and does not see why some mainstream artistes would want to sabotage the entry of new artistes. He was responding to a question posed by Thompson C D Nortey on the X-Jam show on claims that mainstream artistes see upcoming ones as a threat. Dr. Laylow believes that this attitude of mainstream artistes trying to keep out new artistes is just simpleminded and does not help the industry in anyway. There need not necessarily be competitions because different artistes come with their complimentary styles. “There is a market for everyone,” he asserted, commending the effort of Mr Eazi on his Empawa Africa movement. Dr. Laylow has been doing music for a while now, but took a break to concentrate on his studies at the medical school. He was once signed onto Magnum, a music production firm in Ghana but had to amicably part ways due to a set of unfortunate incidents. And this is how he became an independent artiste. Currently Dr. LayLow has to his credit four songs including Born one, God bless the hustle, and the song currently making waves in the country, No Sleep. About his inspiration, he mentioned the likes of Drake and Sarkodie among others. Dr. Laylow also wishes to do a remix of his song “No Sleep” with either Sarkodie or Kwesi Arthur, or both. who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
