A 65-year-old Daniel Nsowah, a farmer at Tumfokro in the Assin South District of the Central Region is battling for his life at Abura-Dunkwa District Hospital after his mentally unstable son inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on him.
His attacker severed his left hand, left ear and a deep cut leaving the left foot dangling with only thin flesh holding it.
The victim was also slashed in the head, neck, shoulder and elbow.
But for the timely intervention of neighbours who heard his shout for help, rescued and sent him to hospital, the son would have butchered him to death.
The suspect, 32-year-old Kwaku Nyankomago, who has been behaving as mentally ill person, has for sometime been tormenting the lives of residents with offensive objects on different occasions.
A team of police officers from Nyankumase Ahenkro Police Command, led by Detective Lance Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey, upon receiving the information rushed to the hospital and met the victim in a very critical condition at the emergency ward.
The police’s intelligent operation led to the arrest of the suspect who had absconded from the community and sneaked into the bush immediately after committing the heinous crime.
The suspect is currently in police custody at Nyankumase Ahenkro.
Information available to Newstitbits.com suggests that the victim returned from the farm around 3:30 pm on Saturday, 14th January 2022 and met the suspect roasting yam in an oven at their compound.
