GJA Ashanti appreciates Asantehene

May 12, 2020
Reading Time: 2 mins read

The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association(GJA)  has, on behalf of all media practitioners in Ashanti, thanked the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the donation of food and other items to the Association.

Engraved in a beautiful gold plaited frame, the appreciation is headlined: “Journalists Are Forever Grateful To Our King”.

Signed by Mr Kingsley E. Hope, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA, it read, “We are emboldened to stay at the frontline of qualitative reporting in COVID-19 because we have a King that cares for our welfare.

“Your gesture and encouragement assure us of a home at Manhyia to always come have a rest”.

“The GJA and all media  practitioners in the Asante Kingdom are forever grateful to our King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the  Asantehene”.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, on April 8, 2020, donated items including a number of bagged water and drinks, Manhyia branded hand sanitizers, bags of rice and tubers of yam, in the wake of the fight against COVID-19.

Mr. Emmanuel Osei Sarfo, Special Aide to the Asantehene, presented the items to the regional chairman of the GJA, Mr Kingsley E. Hope, at the Manhyia Palace .

The Asante King had earlier put a special team together that had been distributing sanitizers, food items to communities in the region, as well as those close to the Manhyia Palace.

This forms part of measures by the Asantehene to support the needy in complying with the President’s directive to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Receiving the plaque on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Manhyia Palace on behalf of the Asantehene, Ambassador Nana Effah Apenteng, was full  of praise for the GJA for showing such an appreciation to the King’s gesture.

Nana Apenteng, who is a Deputy Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace said, “Otumfuo will really appreciate this and will never forget it”.

Present included Mr Ernest Sarhene, Chief of Protocol, Mr Lawrence Akwasi Prempeh, Head of Research, Mr Emmanuel Osei Sarfo, special Aide to Asantehene, and Mr Kofi Adu Domfeh, member, GJA.

who would your most humble servant be?

At a time when power is flaunted more than it is earned, we rise with a different call: #TumiNniSuban—Power without character is nothing. We are done with leaders who wear authority like a costume but lack the soul to serve. Leadership must reflect the people’s dignity, not diminish it. So we ask If elections were held today, who would your most humble servant be?
